Una Bella Vita

When I created the original collage of the figure it didn’t occur to me, at that point, how it would be used or how timely the message would be. Given the past few years and the explosive topic of immigration, I’ve been left with the heart-wrenching and disturbing images of children, mothers, fathers, etc. in cages. Children separated from their families. What is to become of them? At the hand of the Trump administration the dream to come to this country has all but vanished. The images are haunting and stay with me. The sadness in the face of the young girl in my collage hopefully tells a story along with the accompanying narrative. Una bella vita — a beautiful life. For whom does it exist if not for those seeking a better life?
